Community connection is at the heart of all of Laura’s work. Her background in refugee resettlement and intergenerational programming continues to inform her work in theater at The Old Globe arts engagement department, where she manages and innovates programming to collaborate with diverse local communities, including unsheltered, incarcerated, veteran, elderly, LGBTQ+, refugee, active military, and Tijuana communities. Laura was the intergenerational education coordinator at the International Rescue Committee refugee resettlement agency in San Diego. She implemented youth and family programming to help provide basic needs, educational opportunities, and fun engagement with the city and community. She taught public-speaking, storytelling, and self-advocacy skills to refugee youth.
